Here’s how you can update your Windows 10 machine using the Windows 10 Update Assistant from the Download Windows 10 page.
Warning: before you begin, make sure that there are no SD card attached to your computer, else you will get this window at the middle of the process:

“To work around this issue, remove all external media, such as USB devices, SD cards and UFS cards, from your computer and restart installation of the Windows 10, version 1903 feature update. The update should then proceed normally.”

…. Continuing the update

Under the Windows 10 May 2019 Update now available click on the Update now box

Save the Windows10Upgrade9252 file to your computer and run the 5.84 MB file after download it complete.

The Windows 10 Update Assistant will launch, the assistant will detect the current Windows 10 version running on the machine, in this case I have version 1809.

Click on the Update Now box, in the next window, the assistant will check for compatibility.

Once CPU, Memory and Disk space is all OK, click the Next box

The step the assistant will do it to download the Windows 10 May 2019 update once it’s done downloading all the files it will proceed updating Windows.




Next thing you need to do is grab a coffee or beer and relax while your Windows 10 is being updated it will take around 30 minutes or so to complete the update.


Once the update is complete, the machine will restart.

Finally, make sure to run Windows Update as there will be some minor updates needed to be installed, in my case I have a couple updates for my computer.

Then you’re all set! Enjoy!
